Prachi Dave

Former ACLU-WA Second Chances Project Director

“My job is to use litigation and policy advocacy to eliminate the barriers faced by individuals because of their prior convictions. Conviction history should neither prevent a person from accessing employment or housing, nor result in a court debt so crippling that they cannot rebuild their lives.”

Prior to joining the ACLU-WA staff, Prachi spent seven years as a public defender in Colorado, where she represented adults and juveniles charged with felonies. She saw how the consequences of convictions can linger long after a person has completed his or her sentence. In 2015, Prachi joined the ACLU-WA as Director of the Second Chances Project, leading ACLU efforts to end debtors’ prisons around the state.  Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, she is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the University of Iowa College of Law.
