Born in the Philippines, Martha Reyes has called the Pacific Northwest home for 30 years. She attended the University of Washington Business School and earned a BA in Marketing & Entrepreneurship.

“Soon after graduation I realized that the only thing I wanted to market and promote was equal rights for all. Over the past decade I’ve had the opportunity to work with organizations that align with my values.” Martha said. “I’ve admired the ACLU of Washington for many years, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team.”

Martha is the ACLU-WA’s new Programs and Events Manager. She joins our staff with years of experience working with various nonprofits, including the Seattle Human Services Coalition, NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, and Social Justice Fund Northwest, where she managed communications, membership development, and policy outreach.

With the ACLU-WA, Martha manages events, educational programs, and our presence at community outreach events. “I love being able to work with the ACLU’s Speakers Bureau, student clubs, volunteers, and members. I get to meet and work with amazing people all day long, and I’m supported by an incredibly talented staff,” Martha said.

Passionate about her community, Martha spends much of her free time working with others who are committed to supporting Asian American communities. She is a board member of Asian Pacific Americans for Civic Engagement (APACE), a member of Gabriela Seattle (a grassroots Filipina organization), and organizes a monthly women of color book club. When she’s not promoting civil liberties or out in the community, Martha enjoys playing Settlers of Catan with her two teenage boys and could spend whole weekends cooking.
