Flights & Rights - AI, Communities, and Fairness

Date:
Tuesday, May 28, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Location:
KEXP Studio Gathering Space
Join us for Flights & Rights, our community series featuring important civil rights issues and great beer in the KEXP Studio Gathering Space! ACLU Technology and Liberty Project Director Shankar Narayan will examine the dynamics of how AI and machine learning are transforming our lives. AI changes the way we get housing and jobs, how much our health care costs, how people are policed and sentenced, and so much more. However; in a context of deep structural inequity, people of color, religious minorities, and other vulnerable communities have long been disproportionately impacted by new technologies and now, by AI-based automated decision-making tools.

Shankar will examine how these tools impact our communities and consider legal, policy, and regulatory solutions in the context of impacted community leadership. Dogfish Head Brewing will be pouring. Must be 21 +
