Seattle businesswoman Jean Robinson has been chosen to serve as President of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Washington.  As the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, the non-profit organization defends and advocates for civil liberties throughout Washington.  The ACLU-WA has more than 20,000 members statewide and is the third-largest state branch of the ACLU.

Robinson is owner of the Robinson Company, a cost estimating and construction management firm specializing in public sector projects throughout the Northwest. Robinson has served in several key leadership positions with the ACLU of Washington Board over the past decade, having been 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, and Treasurer, chairing the Development Committee, and chairing the Budget Committee.

“I’m truly honored to serve an organization that advances freedom and equality for everyone, especially after the past year’s historic successes for marriage equality and smart drug policy reform,” said Robinson.

Jean Robinson succeeds attorney Jesse Wing as Board President.  Wing served as President for the past six years, presiding over a period of many successes and great growth in resources for the organization.

Kathleen Taylor continues as the ACLU-WA’s Executive Director, managing its operations and 30-member staff.
