CLASSIFICATION: Part time (20 hours weekly), Exempt. Hybrid work environment. Must live within Washington State.
 
OVERVIEW: The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington (ACLU-WA) is seeking a part time Development Data and Data Systems Manager.  ACLU-WA advances liberty and justice in the courts, in the legislatures, in the streets, and at the ballot box. Our work is rooted in belief in a future where everyone in Washington, particularly those who have been historically and systematically denied full enjoyment of their promised civil rights and liberties, are finally free to do so without barriers.  Defending and advancing these fundamental rights and core values relies on the contributions of exceptional staff.

The Development and Data Systems Manager reports to the Director of Development and is an internal-facing role that provides data management, reporting + hygiene support to the Development team and responds to constituent-related data requests from the Communications, Legal, Political Strategies and Policy Advocacy departments. The Data Manager brings an enthusiasm for data hygiene and a passion for organization, understanding that these are the bedrocks that allow the department to succeed. Individuals in this role are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, and adept at "translating" requests into reality. They are comfortable working with large spreadsheets of data, parsing the data down to what is really needed, and making the data readable for a variety of users. 
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participation in ACLU-WA’s race equity work. This may include utilizing ACLU-WA race equity tools, adopting ACLU-WA race equity practices, etc.
 
Reporting & List Generation
  • Perform tasks related to large-scale data processes and complex reporting.
  • Provide mailing lists, donor lists, revenue reports and other data extraction requests for the Development team and other departments as needed.
  • Formulate, design, and develop reports, tools, and analyses to enable informed decision making in fundraising, advocacy, and donor/member experience with the organization.
 
Data Management + Support  
  • Ensure that data are accurate by implementing solutions for improved data hygiene and other routine tasks that impact constituent accounts.
  • Collaborate with the national data operations teams to develop solutions and that drive improvements to data quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure that all data collected for input into database (e.g. survey data, Springboard forms, etc.) is compatible with database structure and protocols. Advise staff on best practices for data input and work with Data Ops on mapping and streamlining manual uploads.
  • Monitor regular sweeps to ensure all systems are working per specifications; suggest improvements and solutions for data hygiene and other routine tasks that impact member accounts.
  • Maintain working knowledge of other data sources (e.g. Springboard, Sailthru, Microsoft Forms, etc.).
 
Data Policy Implementation
  • Responds to and implements changes related to, data hygiene, system updates and data compliance from the national data support, dataOps and privacy teams.
 
Other
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data systems and processes. 
  • Builds and maintains online donation forms, RSVP forms and surveys.
  • Participates in department-level meetings, discussions, and related work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  The position requires maintaining some physical file records and word processing.  This position has the choice of a hybrid or fully remote workstyle. 

MENTAL DEMAND: Decision-making, high emotional intelligence, giving and receiving feedback and building trusting relationships.  The nature of this work can be emotionally demanding and requires thoughtful and clear communication and resilience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The ACLU-WA observes a hybrid workstyle, with some staff working primarily remotely while others work in the office several days a week.
 
Our office is generally open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and is located in downtown Seattle. COMPENSATION: The ACLU of WA is dedicated to centering equity in all aspects of the organization and, as such, has adopted a salary scale for measuring how to best compensate its employees. The salary for this position is $58,410 to $ $71,940. A range indicates the intention to accommodate those with varying years of relevant experience, as determined by the salary scale.

ACLU-WA provides laptops, home office supplies, certain equipment, and technology support. You will need an effective Wi-Fi connection and a way to communicate by phone. This position is eligible for either a work phone or phone stipend, as well as an additional $150 stipend each month to help cover any additional costs while working from home.
